The Complete Bass Harmony & Vocabulary Bundle

Five books. One comprehensive path from fundamental harmony to advanced musical vocabulary.

The Complete Bass Harmony & Vocabulary Bundle brings together five of my most in-depth books on harmony, improvisation, vocabulary and the practice process into one collection.

If you've come here from my Master Triads on Bass course, this is where you can take those concepts much further.

Triads are only the beginning.

Across these five books, we'll move from major and minor triads and their inversions into chord voicings, voice leading, ii–V–I vocabulary, chromaticism, melodic minor, altered harmony, chord melody, reharmonization and the process of turning all of that information into something you can actually use when you play.

The bundle includes:

Chordal Harmony — Volume 1

Build the foundation.

Start with the fundamentals of playing harmony on the bass before moving into major and minor triads, inversions, V–I and ii–V–I movement, chord-building vocabulary and reharmonization.

The goal isn't simply to memorize a library of chord shapes. It's to develop the reactive skills necessary to create harmony naturally—in improvisation, composition, solo playing or within a band.

The book progresses from the basics through triads and vocabulary before moving into reharmonization, with extensive TAB and notation reference material.

Chordal Harmony — Volume 2

Expand the harmonic possibilities.

Volume 2 takes the foundation of the first book and moves deeper into voicings, chord melody and reharmonization.

You'll explore major, minor and dominant voicings across 4- and 5-string bass, develop chord-melody concepts, and work through increasingly sophisticated approaches to reharmonization.

The underlying idea is surprisingly simple: never underestimate what can be accomplished with a bass note and a melody note. From that foundation, you can build an enormous range of harmonic colors.

Jazz Vocabulary for Electric Bass: ii–V–I

Turn harmony into language.

The ii–V–I progression is one of the essential building blocks of jazz harmony, and this book provides a systematic way to get its sounds and shapes under your fingers.

You'll work through a structured practice routine before adding chromatic approach tones, small melodic cells, altered-scale vocabulary and concepts for deliberately playing outside the harmony.

The objective is always musical rather than mechanical: build the necessary muscle memory until the shapes and sounds become second nature.

Bass Player's Guide to Altered Chords & Scales

Take dominant harmony further.

Learn not only what the altered scale is, but how to hear it, speak it and create with it.

The book progresses from altered-scale and melodic-minor fundamentals into ear training, triads, triad pairs, rhythmic displacement, altered arpeggios, tension and resolution, practice changes and an extensive vocabulary archive.

This is also one of the strongest connections to the advanced section of the Master Triads on Bass course: the triad concept becomes a practical way of navigating altered dominant harmony rather than simply another scale to memorize.

From Practice to Performance

Make all of it usable.

Learning vocabulary is one thing. Getting it to appear naturally when you're actually making music is another.

From Practice to Performance is built around that problem: how do you take something from discovery, through the practice process, and ultimately into performance as a natural extension of your own musical voice?

The book works systematically through material in all twelve keys before moving into a dedicated performance section, bringing together rhythm, harmony, melody, technique and composition with an emphasis on two fundamental musical priorities: time and sound.

More Than 600 Pages of Material

Together, these five books create a substantial library for developing harmony and vocabulary on the electric bass—from fundamental triads all the way through advanced harmonic application.

But the objective isn't to learn everything at once.

It's to take small pieces of information, work on them deeply, hear them clearly, and spend enough time with them that eventually you don't have to think about them anymore.

The bundle includes:

• Chordal Harmony — Volume 1
• Chordal Harmony — Volume 2
• Jazz Vocabulary for Electric Bass: ii–V–I
• Bass Player's Guide to Altered Chords & Scales
• From Practice to Performance

All five books also include access to their accompanying video content, with play-along material included where applicable.
If you're ready to move beyond simply knowing shapes and scales—and start turning harmony into vocabulary you can actually hear, feel and use—this collection gives you years of material to explore.
